Last night’s Musion showcase: imagine if….

‘All I’m really after is magic, never the Bandwagon’ I sang out last night (lyrics from my song ‘Apple’) . I did a totally unique…crazy and mad fun gig at the Musion headquarters in Central London. Musion (as they say on their website) is a 3D holographic video projection system allowing a spectacular 3-dimensional moving life-size hologram to appear within a live stage setting’

Basically, with this technology anyone can appear live on stage without actually being there! That means as a musician you can get projected on stage anywhere around the world whilst being in the comfort of your own home or whilst travelling and even perform in many countries around the world at the same time! Talk about multi tasking! For music fans this means that you could potentially have your favourite singer in your house singing songs exclusively to you and all at Broadband internet speed! The technology is obviously pretty pricey at the moment to do that but its mad to think about where it is all leading! After all we’re spending more and more time on our laptops and computers…skype, la face and twitter, as scary as it seems 3D and virtual reality is definitely the future.

This is me performing to the crowd as a 3D holographic image last night. I could see the crowd from a little video camera. (I was tucked away in a room upstairs!)

Other non-live performances last night were from Black eyed peas rapper Will.I.am singing his half of the Cheyrl Cole duet 3 Words, X factor boys JLS, conscious punk band Anonymous Tip and emerging from a painting…only the legend Frank Sinatra!

It is a pretty weird sensation having these artists singing to you. Even though you know it is not real your brain is some what tricked into thinking they are there. Its very strange! Whats really exciting for me and for all creative people is that you can mix the live performance with art and have live special effects and animation incorporated into the live show. Im already imagining live on stage music video’s performed with animation and one recorded me playing the guitar whilst the real me sings and plays another instrument. I am devising a wish list of ideas for Musion as I write, tee hee!

It was really lovely to watch the ballet dancer that turned into a swan…and then butterflys

This technology is just amazing and will totally be used for all sections in the arts and entertainment industry as well as education and news media. Im really excited to be a part of it. Watch this space… what you can imagine you can totally create!
